Aesthetic Dentistry
Aesthetic Dentistry enhances the appearance of teeth by correcting their shape, improving their shade, concealing chips and structural damage, or addressing issues of attrition or wear and tear, among other things. These treatments are mainly indicated for people who are dissatisfied with the appearance or shape of their smile.
We use veneers to enhance the shape and colour of teeth or tooth whitening if you just want to improve only the shade of your teeth.
DENTAL VENEERS
Dental veneers are an aesthetic treatment that involves the placement of thin coverings, usually less than a millimeter thick, over the visible part of one or more teeth. Veneers can improve the shape, position and colour of your teeth, thus enhancing the aesthetic appearance of your smile. This is the most conservative and least invasive technique for improving the appearance or design of the smile in anterior teeth.
There are two types of veneers, porcelain and composite.
Benefits of composite veneers
• They are long-lasting
• They are harder than natural enamel and maintain the brightness and natural shade of the teeth indefinitely.
They are fitted using a minimally invasive, pain-free treatment causing no discomfort.
• They are not stained by substances such as tobacco, coffee or tea.
• They are the same shade and shape as natural teeth.
• They are exceptionally comfortable when speaking or eating.
Benefits of composite veneers
•They restore the original shape of teeth. In addition, composite veneers can correct slight blemishes in the teeth caused by accidents or attrition.
• Composite veneers offer a unique advantage over porcelain veneers because they are a completely reversible treatment, making them a more versatile option. In addition, unlike porcelain veneers, which require preparation of the natural teeth before placement, composite veneers can be applied without altering the original shape of the teeth.
• They are a non-invasive treatment. Thanks to the technical characteristics of their materials, composite veneers do not require much work and preparation of the tooth enamel before placement.
WHITENING
Teeth whitening is an aesthetic and conservative treatment that brightens teeth. eliminating most stains produced by extrinsic causes, such as coffee or tobacco.
Whitening involves applying a product that oxidizes the pigments that darken the teeth.
There are two types of teeth whitening: in-office whitening and at-home whitening.
In-office whitening
This state-of-the-art treatment uses cold LED light.
A 35% hydrogen peroxide gel is applied to the teeth, and an LED light lamp acts on it.
Its main advantage as the fastest whitening treatment is that it is carried out in the dental chair and always under professional supervision. However, for this reason, it is more expensive than at-home whitening.
At-home whitening
To begin the at-home whitening process, the patient’s mouth is first measured to make customized splints. Then, at home, the patient fills reservoirs in the splints with a small amount of whitening product before placing the splints in their mouth.
The amount of time and the time of day to wear the splints may vary widely, and different concentrations determine the minimum and maximum time the devices must remain in the mouth. The product applied in this case is 10 or 16% carbamide peroxide.
